Late in 2010, the community of Central Avenue Church began work on what would become a second location for worship in Athens at 29 E Carpenter. The vision for the space was that it would not only serve as church on Sunday morning, but that we would meet the surrounding community in this space throughout the week. We want to build relationships with businesses and organizations and individuals who identify with our vision of fostering community through faith, education, music, and the arts.
To date, Central Venue has been the host of plays, lectures, concerts, puppet parades, meetings, banquets, workshops, and more. We're excited to see what else we can use the space for, and would love for you to join that conversation.
Located right in Uptown Athens, Central Venue is an ideal location for all sorts of events. At capacity, the venue can hold 300 people standing or 225 people who are seated theater-style. We have a projector and screen, professional light and sound systems, tables, chairs, and a variety of microphones.
Updated April, 2019: Central Venue is currently not accepting any new bookings at this time. We are in a season of staff transition, and much of our work at Venue is being done by volunteers. We are also working on some new plans for the space, which we’re very excited about. If you are one of our partner organizations and need a space for a particular event, please feel free to contact the office at 740-592-2389, or send a message to our Director of Administration.
